How To Deal With Dandruff Know the facts

Dandruff is a mysterious ailment. Dandruff is unlikely to be the cause of hair loss. Dandruff can happen at any age but is most commonly found in people between the ages of 12 and 80. Dandruff is the result of the normal growing process of the skin cells of the scalp.

Common older literature cites the fungus Malassezia furfur (previously known as Pityrosporum ovale) as the cause of dandruff. This fungus is found naturally on the skin surface of both healthy people and those with dandruff, it has recently been shown that a scalp specific fungus, Malassezia globosa, is the responsible agent.

Dandruff is due to the excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp. Dandruff is not an organism like lice; it is just dead skin that accumulates in the scalp. Dandruff is a chronic condition that can almost always be controlled, but it may take a little patience and persistence.

Hormones may also be involved, because dandruff usually starts after puberty and is more common in men than women. Sometimes sensitivities to certain hair-care products or hair dyes can cause a red, itchy, scaling scalp. Another skin condition that affects the scalp is called Psoriasis. Normally, dandruff, in its early stages of growth, is not visible to the naked eye. It becomes visible only after enlarging into pieces of dead skin (what we normally call "dandruff") as a result of the propagation of bacteria and/or problems with seborrhoeic scalp conditions. It affects more than 50% of the population of the USA.

It can occur at any age, but is most likely in the early 20s. Dandruff is made up of bits of dead skin that peel away from the scalp as a result of the effects of metabolism. There are several things that you can do to prevent dandruff. One easy way is to apply a mixture of 8 table spoons peanut oil and the juice of half a lemon. Avoid the use of soaps, chemical shampoos, greasy creams, other hair products containing chemicals.

Avoid hair treatments like bleaching, perming, and excessive use of hair dryers. Do not pick or scratch the scalp with nails to avoid damage to the scalp tissue and secondary infection. Dandruff is infectious.

Always keep your personal belongings like comb/brush, towels, pillow covers separate and absolutely clean to avoid the chances of re-infection. Avoid heavy fatty foods like cheese, redmeats, dairy products, sugars, chocolates, nuts and seafood. It can sometimes be aggravated by allergies or particular foods that stress the liver. Diet should consist of 50-70 per cent raw foods and lots of water to detoxify the system. The most effective treatment is an anti-yeast shampoo containing ketoconazole.

Treatment for Dandruff Tips 1. Hair gels and other hair products can irritate the scalp in some people. 2. Do not scratch your scalp. dandruff sufferers who scratch, using an electron microscope that magnifies 400 times. 3.

Avoid dyeing your hair (unless you absolutely must). 4. Massage some of the liquid onto your scalp three times a week. Do not rinse it out.

5. Make a paste with a teaspoon of dried amla powder, 1 teaspoon of dried neem leaves powder one egg and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply one hour hefore bath wash with cold water can be done twice a week. 6. Boil dried lemon peels and wash hair with this. 7.

Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids. 8. Try a tea tree oil shampoo. 9. Grate tomato and apply on hair roots. Wash after 1/2 hour.

10. Make a paste of henna powder with a teaspoon of lemon juice and an egg. It cures dandruff and conditions hair.
